Congratulations to Professors Isamu Akasaki, Hiroshi Amano and Shuji Nakamura on the 2014 Nobel Prize in Physics!

I am proud to be an alumnus of Meijo University and Nagoya University with which Drs. Akasaki and Amano are affiliated. In deed, Akasaki and Amano sensei were in the same building and department as I were when I was a graduate student at Meijo University.

Congratulations to Professor Yoichiro Nambu on the 2008 Nobel Prize in Physics!

I am proud to be Japanese and University of Chicago faculty.  I am proud to be an alumnus of Nagoya University from which three other Japanese 2008 Nobel Prize winners graduated (Toshihide Maskawa and Makoto Kobayashi in Physics and Osamu Shimomura in Chemistry).  This year is a pretty happy year to me.

Congratulations to Professor Roger Myerson on the 2007 Nobel Prize in Economics!

University of Chicago Nobel Prize Reception at Quadrangle Club on October 24, 2007.  Professor James Heckman and Professor Gary Becker gathered to celebrate (the far left and the far right in the right picture).  I felt honor to be there and forgot that I was faculty at the same university.

Thank you, Dr. Doi, for 40 years of service to the University of Chicago

Retirement reception for Dr. Kunio Doi.  Dr. Metz said that he became officially the most senior faculty in the department.
